Pod petycją zebrano w 4 dni ponad …. 100 tysięcy podpisów!

…………………………………

W obronie pielęgniarek i pozostałych pracowników NHS uzbierano ponad 100 tysięcy podpisów… w 4 dni!

United Kingdom: More than 100,000 signatures collected to protect nurses and other NHS staff… in just 4 days!

The British government wants to reform the rules functioning in the NHS regarding wages for so-called unsocial hours, that is work hours at night, during holidays and weekends. The ministry stated that the distinction between social and unsocial hours is out of date. Although there is no any explicitly determined action plan and many scenarios are under consideration, the community of nurses fears that these relatively small extra benefits may be decreased or abolished.

The  plans of the government provoked outrage and impressive mobilisation of nurses. The petition regarding this matter has been signed by more than 100 000 people, just in 4 days since the kickoff of the campaign.

The author of the petition stated in its justification: “NHS staff work a 24/7 job and as a reward for being so flexible with shifts they receive extra pay when they work nights and weekends. Most staff rely on this due to the pay freeze for staff on increment pay”. And further: “NHS staff spend days such as Christmas and New Year with complete strangers, with their patients and colleagues, helping to save lives. For doing this they get a little bit more money, but the job they do is priceless”.
